A Quick Introduction to Investors in People.

  People are the most important commodity in any company - Invest in your people!

Investors in People is a National Standard supported by the Government, Employers, Organisations and Trade Unions. It allows us to compare our performance in Training & Developing people with other organisations. It requires that a clear link can be shown to exist between our Company's Goals and Training Policy.

  So, I'm interested in 'Investors in People', what are the principles involved?

The principles revolve around three basic areas, which although they look like common sense many companies neglect at their expense.

An organisation needs to look at the following areas of business and have the systems set up:

Induction for new employees.
Appraisal systems.
Training needs analysis. Ensuring people who change jobs have the skills to do the new job.
There is a good communication network in place.
When staff attend training it is evaluated against the Organisation's objectives.
